11922: Stone Sour - Exklusive Headliner-Show am 19. Juni in Hamburg
Mit Stone Sour kommt im Juni eine Speerspitze des US-amerikanischen Rockzirkus nach Deutschland, um erstmals den zweiten Teil ihres Konzeptwerks „House Of Gold & Bones“ live vorzustellen. Der im vergangenen Oktober erschienene Part 1 dieser beiden zusammenhängenden Alben erreichte Platz 7 der Billboard Charts und eroberte die Spitzenpositionen der US-Hard Rock Charts sowie der britischen Rock Charts. Mit dieser Konzeptarbeit, die laut Frontmann Corey Taylor eine „Mischung aus Pink Floyds ‚The Wall’ und Alice in Chains‘ ‚Dirt’“ darstellt, untermauert die Band ihre Ausnahmestellung in der Rock- und Metal-Szene. Neben ihren Auftritten bei Deutschlands größten Festivals Rock am Ring und Rock im Park 2013 spielen Stone Sour eine exklusive Clubshow am 19. Juni in der Hamburger Großen Freiheit 36.
Stone Sour galten lange als loses Nebenprojekt des sonst bei Slipknot beschäftigten Sängers Corey Taylor. Bereits in den 90ern gegründet, wurde die Band aber für mehrere Jahre wieder auf Eis gelegt. 2002 erfolgte die Wiederbelebung der Idee zu Stone Sour, als Gitarrist Josh Rand mit frisch geschriebenen Songs an Taylor herantrat. 18 Monate arbeiteten sie am selbstbetitelten Debüt, das 2002 mit großem Erfolg erschien. Zwei Songs des Albums wurden sogar für einen Grammy in der Kategorie ‚Best Metal Performance‘ nominiert.
Durch Verzögerungen bei Slipknot gewann Taylor viel Zeit und Freiraum, Stone Sour voranzutreiben. In Abständen von jeweils vier Jahren entstanden die Alben „Come What(ever) May“ und „Audio Secrecy“, die beide in die US-Top 10 stiegen und zahlreiche internationale Erfolge verbuchen konnten. So landete „Audio Secrecy“ in Deutschland auf Platz 3 und knackte in England die Top 10. Die Kontinuität in der Arbeit hatte der Band zwischen Metal, Grunge und Hard Rock offenbar sehr gut getan.
So gut, dass Corey Taylor, Josh Rand, James Root (Gitarre), Roy Mayorga (Drums) und der erst 2012 hinzu gestoßene Studio-Bassist Rachel Bolan, der sonst bei Skid Row beschäftigt ist, als nächste Veröffentlichung gleich zwei komplette Alben aufnahmen. Der Zweiteiler „House Of Gold & Bones“ ist ein ausuferndes Konzeptwerk traditioneller Güte, wie man es in den 70ern in der Rockmusik aufnahm. Es erzählt eine zusammenhängende Geschichte und erhielt flächendeckend überragende Kritiken. Viele Rezensenten bemerkten die Spielfreude und technische Virtuosität der Musiker, einige erklärten den ersten Teil dieser Saga zu einem der wichtigsten Alternative Metal-Alben des neuen Jahrtausends.
Begleitet wird das Album durch ein eigens gezeichnetes Comic, das die Story der insgesamt 24 aufeinander aufbauenden Songs vertieft und wiedergibt. Mit dem ersten Teil ihrer Saga haben Stone Sour großen Geschmack auf Part 2 gemacht, der im kommenden April veröffentlicht wird. Man darf sehr gespannt sein, was die Jungs aus Iowa, die live am Bass derzeit von Johny Chow (ex-Cavalera Conspiracy) begleitet werden, an neuen Ideen und Songs mitbringen.

"SONGS" nahmen RIVERSIDE mit Magda Srzednicka and Robert Srzednicki im Serako Studio in Warschau, Polen auf, wo auch die “Reality Dream” Trilogie entstand.

The Brazilian thrashcore band is leaded by the ex-Sarcófago drummer, Manu Joker
One of the best and most respected thrashcore bands from Brazil, UGANGA started 2013 with full force!
The group formed by the vocalist Manu Joker (ex-Sarcófago), the guitar players Christian and Thiago, the bassist Ras Phael and the drummer Marco announced weeks ago three great releases for the first months of 2013.
The first one is the new video clip of "Meus Velhos Olhos de Enxergar O Mal (2 Lobos)", song from UGANGA's most recent studio album, Vol 3: Caos Carma Conceito.
Once again directed by Eddie Shumway - that had previously worked with them on the video clip "Fronteiras da Tolerância" that entered on the Brazilian MTV programming -, the video brings scenes of the band playing at the 2012 edition of the Brazilian major hardcore festival "HC Reunion" and several others of the European tour held by the band in 2010.

The second release announced by UGANGA is the documentary of the European tour of 2010.
The video covers all the 18 shows of the tour that passed through seven countries - Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic and Poland - reuniting scenes of the shows and backstage, besides statements of the musicians and crew.
The documentary will be lauched on February 13th on the band's official Youtube channel.
The third and most important release is UGANGA's new album, Eurocaos Ao Vivo.
The album was recorded live in Germany and Portugal and will bring the tracks "Kali-Yuga", "Asas Negras", "3XC", "Meus Velhos Olhos de Enxergar o Mal", "Sua Lei, Minha Lei", "Zona Árida", "Fronteiras da Tolerância", "Troops Of Doom" (Sepultura cover) and "Nightmare" of Sarcófago with Manu Joker on drums.
Eurocaos Ao Vivo will also feature unreleased recordings that will appear on two Tribute-Albuns that UGANGA is participating. The first song is a version that UGANGA did for "Desespero" from the Brazilian punk rock legend Pastel de Miolos. The second one is a recording of the classic "Nao Desista" from the legendary Brazilian metal band Stress. The song will be part of the "Tribute To Stress" that is being produced by Metal Soldiers Records from Portugal.
Eurocaos Ao Vivo will be released in Brazil by the record label Sapólio Radio and simultaneously in Europe by Metal Soldiers on March 13th.
In July, UGANGA embarks for its second European Tour in promotion of Eurocaos Ao Vivo.

Belgium-based metal legends ENTHRONED have announced new live shows in United Kingdom and Ireland as part of their Obsidium Campaign 2013. The tour will kick off on the 27th of February in Belfast (IE)and play in Dublin (IE), Glasgow (UK), London (UK) and Exeter (UK). More news below.

Auf der 2012er Deutschland Tour haben die Schweden den Grundstein für die HONG FAUX Live-Mania gelegt. Mit einem unfassbar massiven Rockbrett fuhren sie wie ein Panzer durch die Clubs und haben mit Verstärkern und Gitarren um sich geschossen. Geiler Sound, grandiose mehrstimmige Gesänge, alles auf den Punkt. Sie ließen staunende Gesichter und offene Münder zurück.
2013 geht die Tour weiter.

11899: DREAM THEATER: Exklusives Interview mit John & Jordan
DREAM THEATER befinden sich derzeit mitten im Songwriting für den Nachfolger von „A Dramatic Turn of Events". In einem exklusiven Interview mit Roadrunner Records erzählten Gitarrist John Petrucci und Keyboarder Jordan Rudess von ihrem neusten Equipment, wie ihre Vorbereitung aussieht, bevor es ins Studio geht und vieles mehr!
Did you get any new gear over the holidays?
JORDAN: Oh, I've been accumulating keyboards and stuff just to have fun and get inspired. Actually, besides my usual amazing gear like the Korg Kronos, things like that that I use on the road, I got my hands on an Access Virus synthesizer, and then I got an instrument called the Sledge, which is this bright yellow synth with a Waldorf sound engine in it. So what I try to do for sessions, unlike my live show, is I try to surround myself with a lot of different keyboards, so I can put my hands on a lot of things really quickly, so it ends up looking like a Rick Wakeman setup or something like that in the studio. And when I go out live I scale it back, usually with just the Korg Kronos, and I figure out a way to do whatever it is I did in the studio with my computers and all my synthesizers – basically streamline it into one very powerful instrument. But those are a couple of things I got in the keyboard world for the new record that are pretty cool.
JOHN: Yeah, the latest thing guitar-wise is the new [MusicMan] JP13, I'll be using that on the new album, and also from Boogie, I have such a big Boogie collection, but the latest is this amp called the Royal Atlantic. I just got one in the studio yesterday, and we started experimenting with that. So that's gonna be a change as well. There's always toys.
Has a new piece of gear ever inspired a musical idea that's made it onto a DT record?
JORDAN: Oh, totally. As a matter of fact, before I left the studio the other week, I was talking to John Petrucci, and I said "You know, we should sit and go through some of these sounds on my new synthesizers." Because for me, as an improviser, the sounds can be extremely inspiring, and they can lead to compositional ideas. That's a very common thing for a musician, to get a new toy and have it be so inspiring that it leads to a new composition.
JOHN: Oh yeah. 100 percent. Whether it's a new guitar, or the sound of an amp, or an effects patch you found, or whatever, as soon as you start playing with it, if it's something you identify with, it takes you down a certain creative path. I always look forward to that type of thing – you start playing, and next thing you know, you're writing something that maybe you wouldn't have if you didn't hear that sound.
What's the most narrow-purpose item of gear that you own – do you have something that literally makes only one noise, or something like that?
JORDAN: That's an interesting question. Well, I have a theremin; it's a really cool instrument, but it basically has one sound. It's an old electronic instrument that you play by waving your hands in the air.
JOHN: [laughs] Let's see...like, I need this for this one thing that it does...that's a funny question. I suppose I zone in on certain pedals. Guitar amps and Boogies and my guitars are so versatile, but every once in a while you'll find a pedal that just does one thing really amazingly, but what would that pedal be? That's a tough one. I used to – I guess TC is a good story, because for a long time, when I wanted to do chorusing, I would use this one TC pedal, a stereo chorus flanger, and I'd have to use it for that one sound, but that became the basis for my Dreamscape pedal from TC Electronic, but it also does a whole bunch of other things, so I'm not locked into one thing. I used to set up crazy sounds in Eventide – I think it was the solo in "Misunderstood," I had some weird effect on and it was harmonized and backward and every time we played that song, I was like "Oh shit, I need to use that effect to get that."

11896: Baby Universal: The Doors treffen auf Depeche Mode, oder so ähnlich: das tolle neue Album
Schubladen sind eigentlich ziemlich praktisch.
Das merkt man besonders, wenn einem partout keine einfallen will, man Euch aber trotzdem eine Band schmackhaft machen will.
BABY UNIVERSAL sind so ein Beispiel.
Die – ja - Herren arbeiten in einer ganz und gar nicht grauen Grauzone, in der man vieles entdeckt und doch nie so ganz genau sagen kann, was das Resultat denn nun ist.
Vielleicht paaren sie ja einfach schöne Popmelodien mit handgemachter Rockmusik, Depeche Mode mit den Doors.
Lasst Euch auf jeden Fall von ihrem neuen Prachtwerk "Slow Shelter" begeistern.
Es ist viel passiert in den zwei Jahren seit Veröffentlichung des Debütalbums. Zwei Touren haben BABY UNIVERSAL gespielt, 2011 ein Live-Album auf dem Berliner Label ihres Freundes und Produzenten Thommy Krawallo herausgebracht und ihr neues Werk „SLOW SHELTER“, nach der Trennung von Schlagzeuger und Bassisten, zu zweit geschrieben und eingespielt. Inzwischen haben sich BABY UNIVERSAL neu formiert und bereiten sich auf die Konzerte mit dem neuen Programm vor.
„Eine Meditation im Gewitter“, so beschreiben Cornelius Ochs und Hannes Scheffler ihren Status Quo und ihr neues Album. Am Entstehen der aktuellen Platte haben viele Fans und Freunde Anteil - sowohl im Hintergrund als auch auf dem Album selbst - denn die Aufnahmen im Berliner Kabumm-Studio fanden mit Unterstützung einer großen Crowdfunding-Aktion statt. Einige Fans wurden sogar ins Studio zum Mitsingen eingeladen und sind bei „False Profits“ als Backgroundchor zu hören.
Dieser enge Kontakt, der auch die Konzerte der Band prägt, ist ein wichtiger Teil von BABY UNIVERSAL. Die Aufnahmen zu ihrem zweiten in Eigenregie veröffentlichten Album machen deutlich wonach die Gruppe sucht – nach Unabhängigkeit und Raum auf dem eigenen Weg.
Den beschreiten BABY UNIVERSAL auch auf „SLOW SHELTER“ weiter, mischen ihren melancholischen Rocksound mit modernen Poparrangements und loten in Ochs´ Texten nicht nur romantisch-mystische Weiten sondern auch dunklere Tiefen aus. Neben den elegischen Americana-Gitarren von Scheffler experimentieren BABY UNIVERSAL diesmal mit Gästen an Hammondorgel und Sousaphon, holten für „Cry Battle“ sogar einen Kinderchor ins Studio. Als Duettpartnerinnen singen Kiki Bohemia und Trisha, die beide schon einige Male auf Konzerten der Hallenser zu hören waren. Tracks wie „Special Forces“, „Missing“, „Crystal Clear“ oder “Don´t Lose Your Fire“ sind drängende, aufgeladene Songs mit Versen wie Mantras, die aus ihrer gespannten Ruhe und Intensität pure Energie beschwören. In einer umstürmten Zeit haben BABY UNIVERSAL ein Album erschaffen, das zugleich Zuflucht und Kraftquelle ist.
„SLOW SHELTER“ ist eine Einladung zur Meditation im Gewitter. Diese Einladung anzunehmen lohnt sich. Und wer schon einmal ein Konzert von BABY UNIVERSAL gesehen und gehört hat wird auf dieses nächste Kapitel gespannt sein. Und alle anderen: Nicht verpassen, sondern wie es im Opener „Special Forces“ heißt: „Bring in what you have / hopes and dreams again / We will celebrate the living“.
